HEC refuses time extension for degrees verification

ISLAMABAD: Higher Education Commission (HEC) has refused to give two months extension to Karachi and Sindh universities for verification of degrees of parliamentarians.
HEC sources told Geo News that Karachi and Sindh universities sent incomplete report to HEC regarding verification of degrees of 214 parliamentarians, which was sent back to universities for further verification. The universities are seeking time extension for two months for comprehensive verification.
However, HEC has refused to give two months for verification process and directed these institutions to complete the process as early as possible. If it is not possible, send concern record to HEC for verification, sources added.

LHC takes suo mo notice of Faisalabad killings

LAHORE: Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) took suo mo notice of killing two persons under police custody. Both were arrested under charges of blasphemy.
Chief Justice LHC Khawaja Sharif has directed the RPO Faisalabad to submit record of investigations in the court on July 21.
Sajid Emanuel and Rashid Emanuel were arrested under blasphemy law clause 295 in Faisalabad. Religious tension mounted in the area when both were shot dead by unknown persons.

Two terrorists perish as forces foil suicide attack

MARDAN: A suicide plot, which might prove to be deadly, was foiled when two suicide bombers were killed in a bid to carryout a suicide attack on security forces present within Punjab Regiment Center (PRC) here in Mardan.
Meanwhile, four security men sustained minor injuries in retaliatory firing, Geo news reported.
According to details so far reached here, terrorists launched a suicide attack on PRC in Mardan, injuring four security soldiers on Thursday morning, but failed to obtain ill-desired results as security forces retaliated in be-fitting passion, killing both suicide bombers on the spot.
Heavy contingents of police and rangers have placed a stern cordon around the incident site with some reports of exchange of fire between forces and miscreants, it has been learnt.
