Husband, brother publicly beat woman in Larkana

LARKANA: Police arrested four persons on a complaint of a woman for publicly beating and attempting to kill her here on Monday.
Police also registered a case against the arrested men, including husband and a brother of the woman, named Hafiza Bhutto, aged 30, who was beaten in a broad day light.
Hafiza, told Geo News that she was tortured by her husband, Rajan Bhutto, whom she married a month ago and left home to live with her parents. Four men, including her husband and brother barged into her parents house and forcibly drove her away in a car.
She shouted for help when she saw police. This infuriated the husband and brother who severely tortured her and then attempted to throw her off into a lake.
Later, police sprung to action and took Hafiza into safe custody before shifting her to a women police station.
Hafiza says she cannot live with her husband anymore and demanded justice from authorities.

Pro-media resolution exposes Sharif brothers hypocrisy

LAHORE: Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Zaheeruddin Monday said the failure to allow presentation of pro-media resolution has clearly exposed the hypocrisy of Shahbaz Sharif and his companions.
In a statement issued here, Chaudhry Zaheeruddin said he would continue stage sit-ins with the mediamen until and unless Shahbaz Sharif offers unconditional apology to the media.
He claimed that ‘Munshi’ of Punjab Government Rana Sanaullah had prepared the resolution on the directive of Shahbaz Sharif.

Pak team named for first Test against Aussies

LONDON: The first of the two-Test series between Pakistan and Australia will begin tomorrow here at the Lord’s for which the eleven-member Pakistan team has been announced.
Captain Shahid Afridi told media after the team’s practice session that young batsmen Umar Amin and Azhar Ali would make their Test debut tomorrow while former captain Shoaib Malik and Yasir Hameed would not be part of the team in the first Test.
Included in the team are Salman Butt, Imran Farhat, Umar Amin, Azhar Ali, Umar Akmal, Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal, Umar Gul, Mohammad Aamer, Mohammad Asif and Danish kaneria.
Afridi said on this occasion that the national team mostly comprised of young players has the potential of making an upset against Australia.
